Organ Donor Program
Over the last decade or so the organ donor program has gained public awareness. It is seen as a way for people to continue to contribute to society even after their death. Statistics from the official organ donor site indicate that 18 people die each day waiting for an organ and that 1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives. The program is covered in almost all driver's ed programs, whether in a classroom or online driver's ed. Many states have produced informational videos, such as the following video, for organ donation in the state of California.
According to organtransplant.org, it appears that most religions believe that organ donation is a personal decision and in many cases actually support donation as an act of charity. However, the key item here is that everyone agrees that this is a personal decision and no person should ever feel pressured into the organ donor program. So when it comes time to renew that driver's license, do a bit of research on the organ donor program and make a considered decision about whether the program is right for you or not.
