The age of your car doesn’t necessarily affect the price—even brand new cars need regular servicing, and most cars will eventually have complicated electronic problems that can be expensive to replace.

Over the last decade or so the organ donor program has gained public awareness. It is seen as a way for people to continue to contribute to society even after their death. Statistics from the official organ donor site indicate that 18 people die each day waiting for an organ and that 1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives. The program is covered in almost all driver's ed programs, whether in a classroom or online driver's ed.

Most people have heard about the blind spots that are inherent with large trucks. It is also a topic taught in all driver's ed courses but somehow drivers still don't understand the importance of not driving in these blind spots. As it turns out, adults text more often than teens while driving their cars according to a survey by AT&T. And even more significant is that adults know this practice is dangerous and is something they should not be doing. According to the survey, almost half of adults vs. 43% of teens text while driving. And 98% of the adults admit they know they should not be texting while driving.

In Kilgarvan, a small Irish town, a new law was passed that allows people to obtain "permits" that allow them to have a few drinks at the local pub and the drive home. Contrary to everything taught in driver's ed, this law flies in the face of the progress that has been made against drinking and driving over several decades.

We've heard it so many times - don't drink and drive. Everyone is taught this in driver's ed. The signs are posted everywhere on our highways. Spots run on television constantly. And still many people just don't get the message. In a Seattle area crash a 25 year old man was driving the wrong way down the 520 freeway and crashed head-on into a woman driving in the proper direction.

What once was seen as a powerful yet strikingly dangerous machine has become an everyday tool people take for granted. Because of continuous advancements in vehicle safety, drivers rarely question their habitual driving habits. Cars are still one of the most threatening forces in day-to-day living, but with the help of new technology and better driving etiquette, people can still travel safely. Teaching teens to respect the machine as they learn to be leaders on the road by driving safely is at the forefront of importance.

Distracted driving has made the news over the last few years and has become so prominent that April has now been named "Distrcted Driving Awareness" month. Its not every cause that gets its own month, so obviously distracted driving is a major issue. Hail occurs mainly in the springtime and can occur across most of the United States. Hail stones can range in size from very small, pea-sized hail to the size of a softball. And obviously larger hail can cause more damage to a car and pose a hazard as motorists rush to get their car under cover. The Highway Loss Data Institute claims that hailstorms damage 250,000 cars in the U.S. each year. Its worth noting a few ways to protect your vehicle, which is something probably not taught in driver's ed.
